The Law Offices of William R. Connelly, LLC traces its origins to the firm of Sweet & Connelly, P.A., which was founded in Clinton, New Jersey in 1984. Since that time, the firm has been reorganized and reconstituted and remained active in the central New Jersey legal communities comprising Morris, Union, Somerset and Hunterdon Counties, while expanding its practice to encompass the entire state of New Jersey. Located at 7 West Main Street, Mendham, New Jersey, the firm’s attorneys are licensed to practice in the federal and state courts of New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts.
While representing clients from all over the State, we are a community based law practice offering excellence in service to meet the wide variety of needs of our clients in Morris, Somerset, Union and Hunterdon Counties. We live, work, and play here and have long established bonds of friendship and service in these communities.
WILLIAM R. CONNELLY
WILLIAM R. CONNELLY, born in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Connelly earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University in 1976 and his Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School in 1979. He has been a practicing attorney and a member of the New Jersey State Bar since 1980, a member of the New York Bar since 1981 and the Massachusetts Bar since 1992. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Mr. Connelly served as the judicial law clerk to the Hon. Gerald E. Monaghan of the New Jersey Superior Court, Law Division (1980-81). He was formerly employed by the New York firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom and, thereafter, the New Jersey firm of Ravin, Davis & Sweet. He was a partner in the firm of Sweet & Connelly, P.C., where he served as counsel for Pfizer Pharmaceutical Co. His reported cases are: Beshada v. Johns-Manville Products Corp., 90 N.J. 191 (1982); Jarusewics v. Johns-Manville Products Corp., 188 N.J. Super. 638 (Law Div. 1983); Serkin v. Twp. of Ocean, 201 N.J. Super. 392 (Law Div. 1983).
Mr. Connelly is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association and the Morris County Bar Association. He is a member of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of the Mendhams, and the Mendham Business Organization. He is a past trustee of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of Hunterdon County and the former President and Board Chairman of the Mendham-Chester Youth Hockey Association.
Mr. Connelly has served as the attorney-coach for the award-winning West Morris Mendham High School Mock Trial Team over the past fourteen years. That team has been the Morris County Champions for numerous years, and on multiple occasions the New Jersey State Champion or runner-up. He has served as a Presiding Judge for college level and high school level Regional and National Mock Trial Competitions.
